Niagara Falls, Canada: Zipline to The Falls

4.5 (2304 verified reviews)

About This Experience

Four parallel lines launch from a tower at the bottom of Clifton Hill and run 670 metres down the Canadian side of the gorge, 67 metres above the Niagara River, aimed squarely at Horseshoe Falls.

You ride seated in a comfort harness rather than hanging from a trolley, which means your hands are free and your view is unobstructed for the entire descent — past the American Falls on your left, with the mist column of the Horseshoe rising ahead of you and getting steadily louder. The ride ends at the Falls Observation Landing, and a shuttle van returns you to the top.

Practically: complete the waiver online before you arrive and you can skip straight to the check-in kiosk. Minimum age is 7 and the weight limit is 275 lb. Everything runs subject to weather, and your exact time slot is confirmed by the operator by email after booking rather than at the moment you book — so treat the time you select as a request rather than a reservation.

In peak season the queue is the enemy: the operator's own advice is to go before 11 AM or after 4 PM between June and August.

Another way to see Niagara Falls! Fun things to do, especially with teenagers! The entire team was friendly, from the front desk to the photo booth and the security teams! Thank you very much!

As soon as I'd read of this, I'd wanted to do it, and decided to add it to a planned trip to Western New York State. I'd been zip lining, in a limited way, before, but this was my first bigger one. I loved every moment. The wait, with my untimed pre-bought ticket, was reasonable, and the workers were excellent, explaining the whys and wherefores.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the Niagara zipline take?

Budget about an hour and a half door to door. The flight itself lasts under a minute; the rest is check-in, the safety briefing, being fitted with a helmet and harness, waiting for your launch slot, and the shuttle ride back up from the landing area.

Do I get a confirmed time slot when I book?

Not exactly. The time you choose at booking is a request — the local operator confirms your actual slot by email afterwards, and it may differ from the one you asked for. Everything is also subject to weather. Build some flexibility into the day around it rather than scheduling tightly against it.

What are the age and weight limits for the zipline?

Minimum age is 7 and the maximum weight is 275 lb. The zipline is not suitable for pregnant travellers. Every participant needs a signed waiver, which you can complete online in advance to get express admission at the kiosk.

What can I see from the zipline?

The full 670-metre descent faces down the gorge toward the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, with the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls to your side and the Niagara River 67 metres below. Because you ride seated in a harness rather than hanging, the view is unobstructed the whole way down.

When is the best time of day to go?

Early or late. The operator's own guidance for peak season — June through August — is to arrive before 11 AM or after 4 PM to avoid the worst of the queues at the bottom of Clifton Hill.
